2010 Science Teacher Workshop Opportunity
This July 6 - 16, the Amoskeag Fishways will be part of a special summer institute with the Museum Institute for Teaching Science, MITS. The 9 day session theme is "Interactions in the Science Disciplines: Observe, Investigate, Explain" Exploring how cycles, processes and systems connect life, physical and earth science. MITS Summer Institute 2010: MERRIMACK RIVER REGION
Journey upstream to discover the diversity of life in the Merrimack River ecosystem. Explore rivers, streams, forests and wetlands. Follow the flow of energy from soils to wildlife. From guided to open inquiry, enrich and enliven your classroom with simple hands-on lessons that bring alive the ecology of the river and forest, from macro-invertebrates to moose to water quality to trees.
Canoe the Nashua River. Create a river flow model. Sample soils throughout the ecosystem. Learn science notebooking. Receive the Project Learning Tree PreK-8 Activity Guide.
These course wide activities will help you meet physical, life, and earth science frameworks in your classroom. Observe, Investigate and Explain with us in the Merrimack River Region.
